Comprehensive Eye Exam

image

When you come in for a comprehensive eye exam, your vision and your eye pressure will be checked, and your eye doctor will examine your entire eye from the front to the back. Eye drops will be used to dilate your pupils in order to examine the back portion of your eyes. The dilating eye drops cause your pupils to become very large and will last for 4-6 hours, after which it will return to its normal size. During this period while your pupils are dilated, your vision will be mildly blurry and you will be very sensitive to bright lights. If you do not have sunglasses, the office will provide you with disposable plastic shades or inserts for your glasses. If you are scheduled for a dilated comprehensive eye exam, we recommend coming along with a companion who can drive you home.
